David’s blessing
Wherefore David blessed the LORD before all the congregation; and David said: ‘Blessed be Thou, O LORD, the God of Israel our father, for ever and ever. Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is Thine; Thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and Thou art exalted as head above all. Both riches and honour come of Thee, and Thou rulest over all; and in Thy hand is power and might; and in Thy hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. Now therefore, our God, we thank Thee, and praise Thy glorious name. Thou art the LORD, even Thou alone; Thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all things that are thereon, the seas and all that is in them, and Thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth Thee. Thou art the LORD the God, who didst choose Abram, and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham; and foundest his heart faithful before Thee, and madest a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite, and the Girgashite, even to give it unto his seed, and hast performed Thy words; for Thou art righteous; And Thou sawest the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red Sea; and didst show signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and on all his servants, and on all the people of his land; for Thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them; and didst get Thee a name, as it is this day. And Thou didst divide the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and their pursuers Thou didst cast into the depths, as a stone into the mighty waters.
Song at the Sea
Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea-shore. And Israel saw the great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians, and the people feared the LORD; and they believed in the LORD, and in His servant Moses. Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spoke, saying: I will sing unto the LORD, for He is highly exalted; The horse and his rider hath He thrown into the sea. The LORD is my strength and song, And He is become my salvation; This is my God, and I will glorify Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him. The LORD is a man of war, The LORD is His name. Pharaoh’s chariots and his host hath He cast into the sea, And his chosen captains are sunk in the Red Sea. The deeps cover them— They went down into the depths like a stone. Thy right hand, O LORD, glorious in power, Thy right hand, O LORD, dasheth in pieces the enemy. And in the greatness of Thine excellency Thou overthrowest them that rise up against Thee; Thou sendest forth Thy wrath, it consumeth them as stubble. And with the blast of Thy nostrils the waters were piled up— The floods stood upright as a heap; The deeps were congealed in the heart of the sea. The enemy said: ‘I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; My lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.’ Thou didst blow with Thy wind, the sea covered them; They sank as lead in the mighty waters. Who is like unto Thee, O LORD, among the mighty? Who is like unto Thee, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders? Thou stretchedst out Thy right hand— The earth swallowed them. Thou in Thy love hast led the people that Thou hast redeemed; Thou hast guided them in Thy strength to Thy holy habitation. The peoples have heard, they tremble; Pangs have taken hold on the inhabitants of Philistia. Then were the chiefs of Edom affrighted; The mighty men of Moab, trembling taketh hold upon them; All the inhabitants of Canaan are melted away. Terror and dread falleth upon them; By the greatness of Thine arm they are as still as a stone; Till Thy people pass over, O LORD, Till the people pass over that Thou hast gotten. Thou bringest them in, and plantest them in the mountain of Thine inheritance, The place, O LORD, which Thou hast made for Thee to dwell in, The sanctuary, O Lord, which Thy hands have established. The LORD shall reign for ever and ever. For the horses of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought back the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel walked on dry land in the midst of the sea.
The soul of every living being
The soul of every living being shall bless Your Name, LORD our God, and the spirit of all flesh shall glorify and exalt Your remembrance, our King, for ever. From eternity to eternity You are God. Besides You we have no king who redeems and saves, releases and rescues, sustains, answers and has compassion in every time of trouble and distress. We have no king who helps and supports except You.
God of the first and the last, God of all creatures, Master of all generations, praised with many praises, who guides His world with kindness and His creatures with compassion: the LORD neither slumbers nor sleeps. He awakens sleepers, rouses those who doze, gives speech to the mute, frees the bound, supports the fallen and straightens the bowed. To You alone we give thanks.
Were our mouths as full of song as the sea, our tongues ringing like its many waves, our lips filled with praise like the expanse of heaven; were our eyes shining like the sun and moon, our hands spread like the eagles of the sky, and our feet swift as deer, we could not sufficiently thank You, LORD our God and God of our ancestors, or bless Your Name for even one of the thousands upon thousands and myriads upon myriads of benefits, miracles and wonders You have done for us and our ancestors.
You redeemed us from Egypt, LORD our God, and released us from the house of slavery. In famine You fed us, in plenty You sustained us; from the sword You saved us, from pestilence You delivered us, and from grievous and enduring illnesses You raised us. Until now Your compassion has helped us and Your kindness has not forsaken us; do not abandon us, LORD our God, for ever.
Therefore the limbs You apportioned to us, the spirit and soul You breathed into our nostrils, and the tongue You placed in our mouths shall thank, bless, praise, glorify, exalt, revere, sanctify and proclaim the kingship of Your Name, our King. Every mouth shall thank You, every tongue swear allegiance to You, every knee bend to You, every upright form bow before You, every heart fear You, and every inward part sing to Your Name.
Who is like You, who equals You, who can be compared with You, great, mighty and awesome God, God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth? We shall praise, extol and glorify You and bless Your holy Name. God, in the vastness of Your strength; great in the glory of Your Name, mighty for ever and awesome in Your deeds: the King seated on a high and exalted throne, dwelling for ever, exalted and holy is His Name.
You hear the cry of the poor and attend to the plea of the lowly. In the mouths of the upright You are exalted; on the lips of the righteous You are blessed; by the tongues of the faithful You are sanctified; among the holy You are praised.
In the assemblies of the myriads of Your people, the house of Israel, Your Name, our King, shall be glorified in song in every generation. This is the duty of all creatures before You, LORD our God and God of our ancestors: to thank, praise, extol, glorify, exalt, honor, bless, elevate and acclaim You, beyond all the songs and praises of David son of Jesse, Your servant, Your anointed.
